Because the gridiron isn’t big enough for a championship team like the Los Angeles Rams, the organization holds a place for fans in the metaverse. This progressive franchise joined the tech elite at CES 2023 in pursuit of new ways to more deeply engage its large and diverse audiences. If you’re wondering what a major-league football team and the world’s most influential tech event have in common, Rams’ Jennifer Prince explains in episode 26, L.A. Rams Bring Tech to Game Day, of the CES Tech Talk podcast series.

Takeaways

  • The Los Angeles Rams are no newcomers to the metaverse; through a partnership with 6Connex, the team runs a virtual Rams Fan House where fans can connect with the team year round, and enjoy games during the season when they can’t physically watch at the Rams’ SoFi Stadium.

  • Deeper immersion is afforded through AR via an app provided by ARound. Using the app, Rams fans at the stadium can see more of the action on the field; those not present can engage in a range of real-life experiences.

  • This Super Bowl-winning organization advances its impact and reach through numerous channels and nearly 90 partnerships with companies in sectors that range from automotive to technology, travel, media, entertainment and more.

  • The team’s representation at CES, not typically expected of an American football franchise, reflected the organization’s commitment to leverage technical innovation throughout the fan journey to optimize fan engagement.

They Said It

I started December 1st [2022]. It was the first time that the Los Angeles Rams brought in a chief commercial officer, which is essentially creating partnerships that span across working with brands to technology partners and thinking about, ‘How can we catapult our business forward,’ but by way of other brands getting to sit alongside the Los Angeles Rams.

Jennifer Prince (00:44)

CES has been really meaningful for us to not only think about the next technologies that are going to make us better and smarter with how we engage, from the football field to fans, partners alike, but also how to stay ahead of the curve, think differently, and be defiantly original in our thinking.
