Dr. Laurie E. Locascio is currently the Under Secretary of Commerce for Standards & Technology & the director of the NIST and Tech. From 2017-2022, Locascio served as VP for research at the U. of Maryland College Park & U. of Maryland Baltimore. Before joining the university, she was at NIST for 31 years, rising from a research biomedical engr to leading the agency’s Material Measurement Lab.
