Dr. Sander is a scientist by training (Ph.D., Molecular & Cellular Biology), and a Mayor in the new City of Rancho Cordova, CA. He was also elected to serve as President of the National League of Cities (2024). He also has experience leading transportation agencies, and many regional commissions. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Pubic Administration, and a Congressional Science Fellow.
