Powerful Women at CES: 5 Inspiring Sessions 

With women headlining on topics that ranged from sports and finance to regulations and adaptive computing, many CES sessions served as profiles of the invaluable role women play in reshaping organizations. Five of these sessions are notable for demonstrating how obstacles to progress can be overcome.

The first woman CEO to lead a global stock exchange, Nasdaq’s Adena Friedman  talked markets and modernization with CTA President and CEO Gary Shapiro. Their Great Minds session at CES 2023 explores indicators for the global economy as the 21st Century moves through a bumpy second decade. Nasdaq is a leader in promising tech advancements, bringing markets into the cloud, introducing AI and helping protect investors against financial crime.

U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm

Secretary Granholm discusses promising clean energy innovations under development across the Department of Energy, many of which were on display at the department’s first exhibit at CES. She also discusses Biden Administration efforts to commercialize and deploy technologies that advance the administration’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions, U.S. economy-wide, by 2050. Calling DoE “America’s Solutions Department,” Sec. Granholm explores how other aggressive milestones can be attained, among them 100% clean electricity on the U.S. national grid by 2035. 


U.S. Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.)

Former computer programmer and 2022 CTA Digital Patriot Sen. Rosen returned to CES to host another panel, this year with her colleagues Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) and Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.). They discuss the top tech issues facing the 118th Congress and priorities for 2023 that include broadband, cybersecurity and emerging technologies. 



High-Performance Computing

 

Dr. Lisa Su, CEO, AMD

CES 2023 keynote speaker Dr. Lisa Su returned to the show to discuss the promise of high-performance and adaptive computing. She also explored the many ways this tech is reshaping how we work, live, learn and play. Addressing a capacity crowd, Dr. Su shared insights derived as the leader of an enterprise that powers nearly every product and service shaping the future of computing in fields that include scientific research, healthcare, transportation, gaming and sustainability.
