Americas HPC Technology Officer, Hewlett Packard Enterprise

Dr. Mark Fernandez has 20+ years of experience in creating, configuring, and assisting with multiple types of technical, scientific and high performance computing (HPC) solutions. He is currently the Americas HPC Technology Officer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). At HPE, he is responsible for working to capture requirements and incorporating them into future HPE HPC systems and solutions. He works closely with engineering teams throughout the product development cycle to ensure requirements are met and serve as candidates for inclusion into larger, more complete solutions. Additionally, Dr. Fernandez is Payload Developer (PD) for software and the Co-Investigator for the Spaceborne Computer project that he and the HPE team created and launched to space for a one year experiment, in collaboration with NASA, in August, 2017. The Spaceborne Computer experiment studied the practicality of running and managing a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) high performance computer (HPC) system in orbit aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
