Article Summary

As CES 2024 banners broadcast across the show floor January 9-12, and as borne out by the early unaudited numbers, this year’s show was ALL ON as the most powerful tech event in the world. It showcased breakthrough technologies and global innovators in a very big way, as anyone there – among the 135,000-plus - could attest. Now that CES 2024 is a wrap, some unofficial numbers demonstrate that CES is the foremost proving ground for emerging technologies, doing business and building partnerships.

They were all there in Las Vegas this month: The greatest minds. The most powerful brands. The most impactful technologies. Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, CES 2024 was a colossus of a trade show that exhilarated and inspired. Here’s a recap.

CES 2024 Outcomes, at a Glance

As indicated by the pre-audit numbers, CES 2024 drew a diverse collection of attendees, exhibitors, thought leaders and media from across the globe. Between 30% to 40% of exhibiting companies displayed enterprise solutions. Additionally, keynotes HD Hyundai and Siemens discussed enterprise solutions and partnerships in the industrial metaverse.

As the numbers show, as can be seen below, the event was about more than bright lights and booth numbers. For example:

  • 2.5-plus million net square feet of exhibits, a 15% increase over CES 2023, filled CES 2024 venues.
  • More than 4300 exhibitors, including 1400-plus startups at Eureka Park, displayed their solutions.
  • Of the 135,000 or more attendees, a record of more than 40% came from 150 countries, regions and territories.
  • 5000-plus global media and content creators packed the show’s media centers and extensively covered the show.
  • 60% of Fortune 500 companies were represented.
  • More than 250 conference sessions, with more than 1000 speakers, explored virtually every aspect of the tech that’s impacting the industry and the world’s populations.
  • The CES 2024 Innovation Awards program pulled in 3000-plus submissions, a record high, and included AI as a new category.
  • Some 25,000 media mentions and more than 35,000 articles led to more than 277 billion impressions specific to CES 2024.

Fostering and Funding a Sustainable Future

On the show’s opening day, CTA announced the launch of the Consumer Technology Circularity Initiative (CTCI), a pioneering industry initiative to reduce waste, encourage reuse, enhance recycling and reduce climate impact. Founding members of the voluntary program are Lenovo, LG Electronics, Panasonic, Samsung and Sony Electronics Inc. Together with CTA, the CTCI founding companies will work to drive, among other goals, meaningful reductions to the environmental impact of materials used in consumer electronics products.

CTCI seeks to promote innovations that advance a circular economy, one that better sustains businesses and communities through extensive reuse, repairing and recycling of materials and products. As stated in the CTA announcement, CTCI will work to extend CTA’s environmental and sustainability endeavors implemented over the last ten years, notably those of CTA’s eCycling Leadership Initiative. Launched in 2011, this initiative’s impacts have included more than 5 billion pounds of electronics recycled nationwide, and more than $1 billion of recycling services provided by the consumer tech industry.

Also at CES 2024, CTA announced the Nevada-based recipients of CES 2024 Green Grants for $125,000 in funding for sustainability causes. The recipients - ImpactNV, Three Square and Touro University – respectively received $63,680, $40,000 and $21,320.

ImpactNV will use the funds for its project to plant 100,000 trees in ten years. Three Square is Southern Nevada’s only food bank and largest hunger relief organization that works with partners to provide quality food to the hungry in service of its mission to eliminate hunger in the communities it serves. Touro University Nevada plans to install two outdoor and ADA-compliant charging workstations, powered by solar for the convenience of students so they can charge devices with less interruption to their studies.

For more than ten years, CTA has provided nearly $800,000 via Green Grants to Las Vegas. The grants are intended to support projects and programs that benefit the communities in and around the city that hosts CES.
