Joshua Xiang

Joshua Xiang has over 20 years of experience in software, networking and Internet industry. He is Executive Vice President of R&D at Suning Commerce Group, the No. 1 retailer in China and a global fortune 500 company, and General Manager of Suning Global Research. He is leading global research teams in Nanjing, Beijing, and Silicon Valley to conduct technology innovation, industry research and technology strategy in areas of AI, AR/VR/MR, smart home, IOT, cloud and big data. He came up with "5 Levels of Autonomous Stores" and initiated "Conversational Commerce" platform that aims to revolutionize the way how business is conducted online and offline.

Before joining Suning, Joshua was CTO of Secoo, a Nasdaq-listed company and Asia's largest online integrated upscale product and services company. As the first CTO in company history, he led the development of China’s biggest cloud platform for luxury goods and services that includes e-Commerce websites, mobile apps, financial services platform, payment system, and auction system. He also led the digitalization of Secoo’s stores in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Milan using IOT technology.

Prior to that, Joshua was Director of Technology Strategy & Technical Advisor to the chairman of Microsoft Asia Pacific R&D Group, responsible for overall technology strategy. Before, he was principal Group Program Manager of Microsoft Cloud & Enterprise engineering group, leading Internet of Things (IOT) and Windows Embedded product definition, development and project management.

Prior to Microsoft, he was engineering director at Trend Micro’s Silicon Valley R&D center, responsible for security software and service strategy, development and technology incubation. Before that, he held senior technical and management positions at Cisco, CA, Dell Force10 and several Silicon Valley start-ups.

Joshua is a recognized opinion leader in great China region and a frequent speaker in technology forums in China and Silicon Valley.

Joshua has bachelor’s degree in computer science from Wuhan University and master’s degree in computer science from University of Pittsburgh.
