CES 2024 Keynotes: Insiders On AI, Tech for Good

Overview Reflecting top trends and themes for CES 2024, the final keynote schedule underscores what’s most important to the wider tech community: Human security for all, and AI as a powerful means to that end. It’s about tech for good with sustainability and inclusivity among the top priorities. The keynote stage, now rounded out with the addition of executives from Best Buy, Intel, MediaLink and Snap, will feature discussions on how the industry is applying tech solutions for the sake of humanity.

Keynote speakers at CES 2024 will explore how and why tech for good is also good for business. Here’s a look at what’s ahead January 9-12 in Las Vegas.

Best Buy: Invitation Only, January 10

The first, and often last, stop for millions of electronics consumers across the Americas, Best Buy is legendary for its devotion to exceeding customer expectations. It also innovates in delivering on the trends that make consumers’ lives better. The featured company in a February episode of the CES Tech Talk podcast series, Best Buy puts the customer at the heart of its every business decision. Best Buy CEO Corie Barry will discuss how the company excels to that end where others have fared less well when she headlines the Leaders in Technology (LIT) dinner. She will offer insights in her one-on-one conversation with Fortune CEO Alan Murray. Their talk will explore the many ways Best Buy stays ahead of consumer demand even as it expands into new categories, among them those that keep people and the planet healthy.

Part of the LIT program at CES 2024, the LIT dinner brings together policymakers, technologists, media and entrepreneurs working to make the world better through tech. The program is designed to give high-level government officials expert views into topics that will include artificial intelligence, self-driving vehicles, trade and cybersecurity. In an announcement about Barry’s CES 2024 keynote at the LIT dinner, Barry said, “Technology is a basic human need and more important to our lives than it has ever been. We have an important role to play, in partnership with our vendors, with our unique combination of expertise, services and the best assortment of technology. We look forward sharing at CES how we’re meeting our customers’ needs every step of the way, even in ways they aren’t contemplating.”

Intel: January 9, 5:00 P.M. PT, Venetian, Palazzo Ballroom

As announced December 7, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger will take to the keynote stage to discuss the impact of AI as it becomes more widely available to more people, and for more applications. Gelsinger will be joined by CNBC Nasdaq correspondent Kristina Partsinevelos for an exchange on the critical roles that silicon and software play in making AI more accessible, and in providing powerful compute that drives modern economies. Gelsinger, recipient of numerous awards over his many years in the technology industry, will talk about bringing AI’s benefits to foster a more sustainable and inclusive future. With eight patents to his credit, Gelsinger is particularly well qualified to explore this emerging technology’s implications.

“AI is fueling a fundamental shift, driving interconnectivity between technology and humanity,” Gelsinger said in an announcement about his keynote. “At the center of this transition is silicon. Whether it is your PC, the checkout at your local retail store or your personal automobile, semiconductors are essential to maintaining and enabling our modern economies and lifestyles. At CES 2024, we will explore how these chips – amplified by innovative and open software – are enabling AI capabilities for consumers and business alike, creating a better, more sustainable and inclusive future for all.”

Snap and MediaLink at C Space: January 9, 11:00 A.M. PT, ARIA, Mariposa Ballroom

Snap Inc.’s Snapchat platform has become established, and beloved, as an alternative social channel for sharing video experiences. Its AR lenses and “Wait’ll you see this” features tell short but vivid stories through users’ smart devices. The idea is community building, a topic featured in a January 2023 episode of the CES Tech Talk podcast series. Snap Co-Founder and CEO Evan Spiegel will explore how technology and culture are aligning as modern communities evolve. Spiegel will be joined for this informal session by MediaLink CEO Michael E. Kassan. The keynote will be moderated by CNBC Senior Media and Tech Correspondent Julia Boorstin.

On the matter of community and culture, Kassan said in a December 18 announcement, “Snap is fundamentally a culture-making business and a master in brand love. They know what their consumers want tomorrow, and it shows in their technology and their advertising products. At MediaLink, we’re more focused than ever on the power that culture wields for brand growth and technological innovation. I’m thrilled to share the stage with Evan and Julia to dig into this topic.”

Immediately following the session, Kassan will also lead a panel conversation on brand loyalty. He’ll be joined by Allegra Krishnan, Vice President and Chief Loyalty & Engagement Officer, McDonald's; Lynn Teo, Chief Marketing Officer, Northwestern Mutual; and Dara Treseder, Chief Marketing Officer, Autodesk.
