Safety and Security at CES

"This year marks the 50th anniversary of CES. Over the years, we have seen the introduction of incredible innovations from exhibitors and a continued increase in the number of attendees and exhibitors," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CTA.

"Tragically, our world has also seen an increase in violent and inexplicable acts. We will enhance our security measures accordingly. Our goal is to enable all of our guests to have a productive and safe experience at CES. We want CES to be an enjoyable event and work to make safety a priority every year."

Tips to Speed Up Your Entrance

CES expects more than 165,000 in attendance at CES 2017.

To speed entrance at all venues, we strongly encourage everyone to

All in attendance must have an official CES badge and government-issued photo ID before entering CES show venues.

Bag Restrictions and Metal Detectors

Bag restrictions and metal detection check points will be in place. Luggage, including suitcases, may not be brought into official CES show venues. Attendees are encouraged to leave their bags at the hotel to limit search time.

Rolling bags of any size will not be permitted on the show floor (including luggage, carry-ons, laptop and computer bags and rolling luggage carts). Only two bags, each smaller than 12” x 17” x 6", may be brought into official show venues. All attendees are encouraged to consider their bag type and use clear bags (mesh, plastic, vinyl, etc.) to expedite the process. Bag check facilities for luggage and oversized items are located at the LVCC, Central Plaza next to the main registration tent, Sands, Level 1 Lobby and  Venetian, Venetian Ballroom Foyer.

While all attendees will be subject to metal detector screening upon entering show premises, CTA will conduct searches at specific points to ensure quick and easy access to exhibit halls and reduce the number of times you have to go through security. Keep in mind that heavy or bulky clothing slows down the screening process.

Media Rules for Bringing Cameras and Equipment on the Show Floor

Media attending CES will be subject to the same security and safety restrictions and procedures as general attendees, with some allowances.

Only two personal bags, each smaller than 12” x 17” x 6", may be brought onto official show premises. Rolling bags and luggage are not permitted.
Beyond this personal bag restriction, members of the media will be permitted to bring media or broadcast equipment, hand-carried or on wheels, onto show premises through designated entrances. This equipment will be subject to search and then tagged as approved for entry.

Media must have a fully visible CES media badge before entering. Security will check CES badges and government-issued photo ID. You must carry both with you at all times.
